Sterling…

To be clear. I am not posting this because it is an incredible statement for the players to have made. I’m posting it because it is a pathetic display of modern day courage. A REAL STATEMENT against a publicly racist owner would be to boycott every damn game until he steps away from the NBA. A REAL STATEMENT would have been to stand as a team OUTSIDE of the arena refusing to play under such an owner, forcing other NBA owners to get on board because it’ll effect their income. We really need to stop pandering these lackluster and impotent attempts at making a statement. It’s embarrassing.

And this is not about what’s fair to the players who fought so hard to get to the playoffs. Making this issue a matter of fairness diminishes it to simply being about basketball. And we already know that racism goes well beyond the hardwood.
